Amanda Robbin Rizzo

Associate Attorney

Attorney Rizzo is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. In 2013, Amanda graduated cum laude from DePaul University College of Law. Amanda’s interest in immigration law began while working at her father’s immigration law firm, which was originally founded by her grandfather in the 1950’s in Chicago. After living in Italy and applying for her permanent residence in that country, she directed her legal studies toward immigration law and the protection of children in the United States. During law school, she interned as a clerk at the State’s Attorney’s Office Child Protection Division, the Public Defender’s Office and private immigration law firms. She also served on the student board of the Schiller, DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center and the Journal of Women, Gender and the Law.

Since graduating, Amanda’s practice has been focused on both family and business U.S. immigration law. She served as an associate attorney at J. Aponte & Associates until joining the team at Grupo REU Law Firm in 2018. She guides her clients through the permanent residence process in the family and employment contexts, with respect to PERM Labor Certification applications, Immigrant Petitions and Applications for Permanent Residence (green card application) within the U.S. and at U.S. Consulates abroad. She also has experience with inadmissibility waivers and humanitarian relief.  She has represented clients petitioning for non-immigrant visas, including B-1, B-2, H-1B, TN, E-1, E-2, E-3, J-1, L-1, O-1 and P-1 visas. Amanda speaks Italian and basic Spanish.

Amanda has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) advocating for children with neglect or abuse cases in the Cook County court system. Amanda continues to volunteer with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services on immigration related matters for families and individuals in need. She also serves on the AILA Pro Bono Bond Project Committee to connect volunteer attorneys with detained immigrants subjected to unnecessary separation from their families. Amanda lives with her husband, son and two dogs where they are happy to live in the beautiful city of Chicago.
